German Arrested in Russia for Alleged Sabotage

Published: 2024-11-20

A German citizen has been arrested by the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) in Kaliningrad on charges of terrorism and smuggling explosives.

The man, born in 1967 and residing in Hamburg, was detained while entering from Poland with 50 grams of liquid explosives in his vehicle.

The FSB claims he was tasked by a Ukrainian, also living in Hamburg, to carry out an attack.

The suspect is also accused of a previous bombing attempt on a gas distribution station in Kaliningrad earlier this year.

The German Foreign Office has yet to comment on the situation.

This arrest occurs amid ongoing tensions between Russia and Western countries, with foreign nationals frequently detained under various allegations.
