The German government has taken decisive action against the Islamic Center Hamburg (IZH), labeling it an extremist organization linked to the Iranian regime.
This move follows years of scrutiny and protests from activists who highlighted the center's ties to radical ideologies.
Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser announced the ban, emphasizing that it targets Islamist extremism, not the peaceful practice of Islam.
In response, Iran summoned the German ambassador, condemning the closure as a hostile act and accusing Germany of Islamophobia.
The ban has received widespread support from German politicians, who view it as a necessary step to combat anti-democratic propaganda and protect democratic values.
