US and German intelligence agencies have reportedly thwarted a Russian plot to assassinate Armin Papperger, CEO of German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall.

The plan, allegedly linked to Rheinmetall's weapons supplies to Ukraine, was part of a broader scheme targeting European arms industry leaders.

Sources indicate that preparations for the attack on Papperger were the most advanced.

Western intelligence services observed suspicious travel patterns of suspected agents from former Soviet countries.

The plot highlights Russia's hybrid warfare tactics, including sabotage and cyber-attacks, aimed at deterring NATO allies from supporting Ukraine.
