Singer Melanie Müller Fined for Nazi Salute

Published: 2024-08-23

German singer Melanie Müller has been fined €80,000 by the Leipzig District Court for performing the Nazi salute during a concert in September 2022. The court found her guilty of using symbols of unconstitutional organizations, a violation under German law.

The incident occurred at a concert attended by a right-wing motorcycle group, where audience members reportedly shouted Nazi slogans.

Müller, who gained fame as a reality TV star, denied the allegations, claiming her gestures were part of her performance routine.

Additionally, she was convicted of drug possession after authorities found cocaine and ecstasy in her home.

The verdict, which exceeds the prosecution's initial fine request, is not yet final.
