Travelers planning a trip to the Baltic Sea from Hamburg this weekend should brace for delays.

Due to construction work, no trains will run between Hamburg and Lübeck from Friday at 5:00 PM until Monday at 5:00 AM.

The Deutsche Bahn is working on overhead lines and cables for a new electronic signal box in Hamburg-Tonndorf.

Replacement buses will operate between Hamburg and Ahrensburg, with regional trains RE 8, RE 80, and RB 81 starting or ending in Ahrensburg.

Passengers should expect travel times to double or even triple, according to the Bahn app.

The disruption affects many summer weekend travelers and holidaymakers heading to the Baltic Sea, as well as freight and long-distance services already reduced due to ongoing construction between Hamburg Hauptbahnhof and Harburg.
