German authorities have arrested a Lebanese national in Salzgitter, suspected of being a Hezbollah member.
The man, identified as Fadel Z.
, is accused of procuring components for military drones in Germany on behalf of the terrorist organization.
These parts, particularly engines, were allegedly intended for export to Lebanon and use in attacks against Israel.
The suspect, believed to have joined Hezbollah in Lebanon in 2016, was apprehended by the Federal Criminal Police Office on Sunday.
He appeared before a federal judge on Monday and is now in pre-trial detention.
The arrest highlights ongoing concerns about Hezbollah's activities in Germany, where the group has been banned since April 2020.
