Berlin Faces New BVG Strikes

Published: 2025-03-22

The ongoing dispute between Berlin's public transport operator BVG and the Verdi union has escalated after the sixth round of wage negotiations ended without agreement.

Verdi has announced a 48-hour warning strike for next Wednesday and Thursday, citing BVG's failure to present an acceptable offer addressing inflation and wage disparities.

The union is also preparing for a vote on indefinite strikes, which could begin in April if approved by 75% of members.

BVG has proposed mediation to resolve the conflict, but Verdi remains skeptical, accusing the company of stalling.

Meanwhile, Berlin commuters face significant disruptions, with no resolution in sight.
