BVG Strike Talks Underway

The ongoing labor dispute between Berlin’s public transport operator BVG and the Verdi union has entered a new phase.

External mediators, including former state leaders Matthias Platzeck and Bodo Ramelow, have been appointed to find a resolution.

Talks will run until April 10, during which no strikes will occur.

This follows a series of strikes, with Verdi demanding a €750 monthly pay increase for 16,000 workers, while BVG offers €375 over two years.

Despite the mediation, Verdi is holding a vote on indefinite strikes, with results expected next week.

Both sides aim for a fair agreement, but tensions remain high.
