Far-Right Magazine Fights Ban in Court

Published: 2024-07-26

The far-right magazine "Compact" is challenging its ban in Germany, filed by Interior Minister Nancy Faeser.

The magazine, deemed a "central voice of the far-right scene," was prohibited for allegedly undermining the constitutional order.

Faeser stated that "Compact" spreads hate against Jews, migrants, and democracy itself.

Alongside the magazine, its associated video production company, Conspect Film GmbH, was also banned.

The Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig is set to hear the case, which raises questions about the balance between press freedom and national security.

Critics argue that the ban could set a dangerous precedent for media censorship in Germany.
