German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser has banned the far-right 'Compact' magazine, citing its role as a 'central mouthpiece of the right-wing extremist scene'.
The ban, which includes associated organizations, led to police raids across several German states.
Faeser accused the magazine of inciting hatred against Jews, migrants, and parliamentary democracy.
The publication, with a monthly circulation of 40,000, has been classified as extremist by German intelligence since 2021. Critics, including the AfD party, argue the ban infringes on press freedom.
The move also affects a planned summer festival in Saxony-Anhalt, which authorities will now prevent from taking place.
