Germany is bracing for a dramatic weather shift as the weekend approaches.
After experiencing scorching temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, a significant change is expected with the arrival of a storm system named "Veruca".
The German Weather Service (DWD) has warned of severe thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds, with gusts potentially reaching up to 110 kilometers per hour.
The storm is set to hit the western regions bordering the Benelux countries and France on Saturday evening, moving towards central Germany.
Hailstones as large as two centimeters are possible, posing a risk of damage.
By Sunday, the storm is expected to reach Southeast Bavaria, although its intensity may lessen.
Temperatures will drop significantly, with highs only reaching 24 degrees Celsius, and some areas in western Germany could see nighttime lows of just 3 degrees.
The following week promises calmer weather, with high-pressure conditions bringing back warmer temperatures by midweek.
