Hamburg Prepares for Key Election

Hamburg is gearing up for its Bürgerschaftswahl (state parliament election) on March 2, 2025. The SPD, led by Mayor Peter Tschentscher, is currently leading in polls with 31-34%, followed by the Greens at 20-22%.

Together, they aim to continue their coalition government.

Key election issues include affordable housing and modern transportation policies.

The Wahl-O-Mat, an online tool, helps voters align their views with party platforms by evaluating 38 policy statements.

This tool has been available since January 30. Meanwhile, smaller parties like the FDP and BSW are struggling to cross the 5% threshold needed for representation.

With 1.3 million eligible voters, the election will shape Hamburg’s political future.
