Stable Support for SPD-Green Coalition

Published: 2024-11-27

In the lead-up to the Hamburg Bürgerschaft election on March 2, 2025, recent polls indicate that the political landscape remains stable despite the collapse of the Ampel coalition in Berlin.

The SPD continues to lead with 30% support, maintaining its position as the strongest party in Hamburg, followed by the Greens at 21%.

This suggests a secure majority for the current SPD-Green coalition if elections were held today.

The CDU trails with 19%, while smaller parties like the AfD and the Left Party hold 9% and 6% respectively.

The popularity of Hamburg's First Mayor, Peter Tschentscher, who has seen a rise in approval ratings, contributes significantly to the SPD's strong performance.

Despite national political shifts, local sentiment in Hamburg appears largely unaffected, with only a third of voters influenced by federal politics.
