Tens of thousands of people took to the streets in five German cities, including Cologne and Leipzig, to demand secure industrial jobs and stronger government support for the sector.
Organized by IG Metall, the demonstrations highlighted the urgent need for investment in green technologies and infrastructure.
Protesters called for the new government to utilize a proposed €500 billion fund to modernize industries and secure jobs.
IG Metall leaders emphasized the importance of fair wages, a cap on electricity prices, and support for automakers.
Critics, however, argued that broader reforms, such as tax relief and reduced bureaucracy, are needed to attract private investment.
The protests, held under the motto "My Job.
Our Industry.
Our Future," marked one of the largest union actions in decades, with over 80,000 participants nationwide.
