Despite a significant rise in cases related to so-called clan crime, Lower Saxony's Interior Minister Daniela Behrens asserts there are no specific hotspots in the state.
According to Behrens, these crimes are spread throughout the region, and both police and judiciary are highly vigilant.
The minister emphasizes a zero-tolerance approach to tackling these issues.
In 2022, nearly 4,000 clan-related offenses were reported in Lower Saxony, a sharp increase from 1,585 in 2019. Bremen also faces challenges with clan crime, recording over 700 incidents in 2022. The term 'clan crime' is controversial, with critics arguing it unfairly stigmatizes individuals based on family and ethnic background.
