As summer vacations begin in southern Germany, the ADAC warns of one of the worst traffic weekends of the year.
With Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria starting their holidays, heavy traffic is expected as families head south to popular vacation spots.
The ADAC advises travelers to avoid driving on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, suggesting instead to travel between Tuesday and Thursday for a smoother journey.
Major traffic jams are anticipated on key routes, especially around metropolitan areas like Hamburg, Munich, and Cologne, as well as at construction sites.
Additionally, delays at border crossings, particularly to Austria and Switzerland, could add to travel times.
Travelers should plan for significant delays and consider alternative routes or travel times to avoid congestion.
