A severe thunderstorm hit the region north of Kassel on Friday night, causing significant damage but fortunately no injuries.
According to local authorities, heavy rainfall led to flooded streets, overflowing basements, and mudslides that pushed cars together in Trendelburg-Gottsbüren.
Emergency services responded to numerous incidents, rescuing two individuals trapped in their vehicles.
Key roads, including the B80 and B83, were closed due to the flooding.
The storm also damaged transformer stations, leaving half of Gottsbüren without electricity.
Concerns arose over a retention basin in Hofgeismar-Hombressen, which was at risk of overflowing, but the situation stabilized by morning.
Approximately 500 emergency personnel worked throughout the night to manage the crisis and assist affected residents.
