Severe Storms Cause Injuries in Germany

Published: 2024-07-22

Severe thunderstorms swept across parts of Germany on Sunday, causing chaos and injuries.

In Delmenhorst, Lower Saxony, a lightning strike injured eight family members who were seeking shelter under a tree.

A five-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were critically injured and required resuscitation.

Meanwhile, in Quickborn, Schleswig-Holstein, over 200 fire department responses were reported due to flooding and strong winds, leading to temporary power outages.

Other regions, including parts of Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia, also faced flooding and accidents on wet roads.

The German Weather Service had warned of heavy rain, with some areas receiving up to 29 liters of rain per square meter per hour, exacerbating the situation.
