The United States plans to station new long-range weapons in Germany starting from 2026, aiming to bolster NATO's deterrence against Russia.
This decision, announced at the NATO summit in Washington, includes the deployment of Tomahawk cruise missiles and SM-6 air defense missiles.
The weapons will be assigned to the Multi-Domain Task Force in Wiesbaden, a new unit established in 2021. This move is part of the US strategy to strengthen military presence in Europe following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
The deployment is initially temporary but aims to become permanent, demonstrating America's commitment to NATO and European security.
