As schools reopen in several German states, police are ramping up traffic controls to enhance road safety.
From August 5 to 11, regions including Brandenburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Saxony-Anhalt will conduct intensified speed checks and monitor for distractions, technical vehicle issues, and driving under the influence.
In Brandenburg, officers will focus on roads with tree-lined characteristics, while North Rhine-Westphalia will participate in a coordinated "Blitzermarathon" across multiple states.
The aim is to raise awareness about the dangers of speeding, which remains a leading cause of accidents.
Authorities emphasize that all drivers should expect increased surveillance on the roads during this period.
