Postal workers across Germany have launched a nationwide strike, disrupting mail and package deliveries.

The union Verdi organized the strike after failed negotiations with Deutsche Post, demanding a 7% pay increase and additional vacation days.

The company argues that rising costs and declining mail volumes limit their ability to meet these demands.

Over 8,000 workers participated, affecting around 5% of daily deliveries.

Verdi insists the strike sends a strong message ahead of the next negotiation round on February 12-13. Delays in mail and package deliveries are expected in the coming days.
