Severe Storms Batter Bavaria, Causing Floods and Disruptions

Published: 2024-07-12

Bavaria is bracing for a night of severe weather as thunderstorms sweep across the southern German state.

The German Weather Service has issued warnings for heavy rain, hail, and strong winds, with some areas expected to receive up to 40 liters of water per square meter within an hour.

The storms have already caused significant disruption, with flooded cellars and streets reported in the Upper Bavarian district of Miesbach.

Train services between Rosenheim and Mühldorf have been affected, with replacement bus services in operation.

As the cold front moves in, temperatures are set to drop, providing relief from recent heat but leaving a trail of weather-related challenges in its wake.
