Severe storms in Franconia have caused significant damage, including a fire that resulted in an estimated five million euros in losses.
The storm, which struck on Thursday evening, likely ignited a blaze in a warehouse in Untermerzbach, where around 60 to 70 vehicles were destroyed by the flames.
Firefighters reported that a lightning strike was the probable cause of the fire, which produced a smoke plume visible for miles.
In addition to the fire, heavy rainfall led to flooding in several underpasses in Nuremberg and Fürth, trapping at least six vehicles.
Fortunately, the occupants managed to escape before rescue teams arrived.
Overall, emergency services responded to approximately 340 incidents across the region, with many streets and basements inundated and a temporary power outage reported in the Nürnberger Land area.
