After a period of high summer temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, the German Weather Service (DWD) has issued severe thunderstorm warnings for several regions across Germany.
Areas affected include southern Lower Saxony near Göttingen, northern Thuringia, regions between Bielefeld and Bremen, and parts of Bavaria around Nuremberg.
The warnings indicate the potential for heavy rain, hail, and dangerous lightning strikes, which could pose risks to life and property.
Rainfall could reach up to 30 liters per square meter in a short time, with even higher amounts possible over several hours.
Thunderstorms are expected to spread eastward in the evening, with the possibility of extreme weather conditions.
Residents are advised to stay alert and take precautions against potential flooding and severe weather impacts.
